Fender Bender

Business as usual,

speeding a little,

weaving in and out in the rain.

Taking the exit,

seven minutes til arrival,

making good time.

He missed his exit,

swerves in last minute,

and we have to compensate.

He’s safe now,

on his merry way, but we skid

into a wall of cement and plastic.

A sudden stop,

crunched steel, broken plastic,

chipped paint and cracked glass,

whiplash. This was

a very unexpected beginning

to a very unexpected end.
